Spring Baby FitCamp Riverbend and Bonnie Doon

The snow is melting, the sun is shining and it’s time to head outside to connect with other parents in the community and fitting in a workout! Come out for a fun, energizing and safe workout while enjoying some of Edmonton’s beautiful outdoor park locations.

Fit Community’s Baby FitCamp fuses elements of strength and cardio-endurance for a total body workout that is fun, refreshing and effective. It is safe for pre and post natal moms. You are encouraged to wear your baby but can also push them in a stroller. Modifications will be provided where needed and those who need that extra challenge will be pushed to be their best!

While some classes will remain in the same general location, for others we will travel to explore sets of stairs, hills and fields to add variety and excitement to the workout. Various types of equipment will also be introduced to keep classes fresh and your body challenged!

Brittney with Portage Babywearing Services will be lending her support for all your babywearing needs!

It is with mixed emotions that we announce our final Fit Community Barre session. But have no fear – Jeanette is opening up her very own studio! It will be the first free standing Xtend Barre Studio in Canada – how exciting!

Barre is a fun, low impact and energizing workout. Combining elements of ballet, Pilates and strength, you are guaranteed to get your heart rate up and build muscular strength and endurance. Plus you will get to connect with other amazing people who live in and around the neighbourhood! All ages and levels are more than welcome and no previous dance experience is necessary!

So let’s plié, pulse and strengthen our bodies together one last time as Fit Community!

Get ready to conquer the snow . . . and get strong, in Fit Community’s early morning FitCamp.

Your body and mind will be challenged with circuits, HIIT workouts, games and team challenges that will build strength and cardiovascular endurance. By 7am your workout will be complete – how great is that?!

This class is suitable for all skill levels and ages.

Days: Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 6-7am
Session Dates: Jan 5 – Feb 18, 2016 (14 classes).

Are you ready to start 2016 strong? Whether Barre is brand new to you, or you are a seasoned veteran, anyone can benefit from this energizing, results-driven workout!

Join the community for Saturday morning or Tuesday evening Barre workouts in Holyrood or McKernan. Fusing elements of ballet, Pilates and strength, you are guaranteed to get your heart rate up and build muscular strength and endurance. Plus you will get to connect with other amazing ladies who live in and around the neighbourhood! All ages and levels are more than welcome and no previous dance experience is necessary! Modifications are always provided, focusing on your safety.

Oh my Fascia! Introduction to Self Myofascial Release by Mira Jindani, MScPT

Like many of you reading this blog, I’m a new mom. My husband and I welcomed our beautiful baby Harris in March. It’s an amazing experience, but the 9 months of extra weight, lack of exercise, and hormones left me more prone to injury. Now, caring for a 5 month old with all the repetitive strain, I find myself experiencing all kinds of strange aches and pains.

Sometimes we need to be seen by a professional to determine the cause and receive treatment. Other times, we can do some self care to alleviate the symptoms as well as prevent them. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle are essential but it’s hard when pain gets in the way. Let’s talk about some ways to help prevent and alleviate muscle pain that many of us new moms experience.
